With all the
problems, worries, and stresses we deal with
every day, sometimes it's hard to get to bed
at a decent hour.
Our sleep hours
can be greatly impacted by stressful events
or busy lives. Whether it's work,
kids, school, doctor visits, business trips,
vacations, family issues, unexpected
problems, or just the day-to-day chores that
we all have to deal with, this stuff can
really take a lot out of you. And then
there's the economy and the financial strain
of just getting through the day in one
piece. Fortunately there are a few
sleep tips
you can use to make sure you get the rest
you need at night.
First of all,
make sure you've got a solid routine of
heading to bed and getting up at the same
time - every day. You'll achieve
better sleep
with just this little bit of normalcy for
your mind and body to hang on to. That
way, you'll reinforce a good sleep cycle so
that you're getting sleepy around the same
time every night. Second, don't eat
any meals after about 7:00 PM. If
you're eating late at night,
sleeplessness is bound to result.
The same rule goes for drinks (which can
lead to frequent awakenings to go to the
bathroom). This includes alcoholic
beverages and especially caffeine.
Third, you'll want to make sure you're
getting at least some regular physical
activity. Stimulating the body with
exercise lets you
fall asleep with better regularity in
the evenings. Still, limit your
exercise habits to daytime hours, and never
exercise after three hours before you're
normally going to go to bed. And
finally, adjust your bedroom so that it's
more conducive to actually sleeping! A
cool temperature is optimal for the best
sleep environment, and of course it should
be comfortable, quiet, and above all, dark.
You can use room-darkening shades, heavy
curtains, dark eyeshades, or earplugs to get
the ideal sleep
benefits.
These are some of the most important tips to help you get a great night's rest. Other people have improved their nighttime habits with the use of herbal remedies and non-habit forming sleep aids. Attaining peaceful slumber every night can bring us closer to improved mood, improved energy levels,
weight loss, and overall health.
